Scholarships and Grants for Students in Argentina

Scholarships are financial award for pupils to further their education. The National Directorate of Socio-Political (DNPS) carries out the following schemes to support education for children and young people who are in a condition of socio vulnerability. 

Support for the Education of Students Under Court Protection

The scholarship procedure is managed and regulated in the area of social and educational policies of each province/region.

Eligibility:
Young people and children aged between 6 and 18 who are under criminal judicial protection for a social cause are eligible for this financial support.  

Documentation:
Attendance proof at the educational institution and the certification of the judicial status of the student must be submitted while applying for this support.

Support for the Education of Students Belonging to Indigenous Peoples- Agreement with NACI

Eligibility: 
Adolescents and young adults who are members of the indigenous population, of Argentina nationality; who are enrolled as regular pupils in a secondary level educational institution that is run by the state or privately managed across the country, in both urban and rural regions, are eligible for this financial support.

Documentation:
Individuals must establish their status of belonging to an indigenous people through the National Institute of Indigenous Affairs (NACI) and their need for financial aid for studies.  Those communities with legal status who are not registered with the National Institute of Indigenous Affairs (NACI) may also request the forms.

Scholarship Procedure:
The procedure varies depending on jurisdiction. Each jurisdiction process is different. Contact the referent of political programs of the Provincial Ministry.

Support for the Education of Pupils Included in the Law Grants Malvinas and South Atlantic Islands

The National Law No. 23,490 offers scholarships to children of civilians and soldiers killed in action or as a result of injury, accident or illness emerging from the Falklands conflict. Also, scholarships are offered to children of Argentine citizens who suffered permanent disability of 66% or more as a result of accident, injury, or psychophysical diseases emerging from the conflict, mandated by the board of medical examinations of each force in which they provided services.

Eligibility:
Pupils below the age of 27 who are studying at any level/stage of the national education system are eligible for this financial support.

Documentation:
To apply for the scholarship, following documents must be submitted:
  • Completed form. The Ministry of Education's Office provides this form to candidates that satisfy current rules and regulations.
  • Original Certificate of Veteran War
  • Photocopy of the opinion of the board of medical examinations confirming 66% disability or more because of the Falklands conflict, legalized by the force in which he served.
  • Photocopy of legalized veteran
  • Birth certificate copy of the student 
  • Legalized photocopy of the student
  • Legalized photocopy of the adult in charge for the payment of the grant. If this is guardian of the pupil, in that case, send judicial documents to support it.
  • Proof of student original regular indicating the full name, ID number, issue date, the school year, or signature and seal of a competent academic authority, without amendments or corrections
  • Legalized photocopy of a newsletter corresponding to the previous year studies-primary or secondary school 
  • Analytical original certificate signed and sealed by an academic authority attesting the subjects passed with their respective dates of approval 
  • Curriculum of the higher level
  • Legalized photocopy of the secondary degree or certificate of title 
Support for the Education of Pupils Included Sponsorship Presidential Scholarship Act (Law 20,843)
The National Law 20,843 awards scholarships to individuals who have been sponsored by the head of the executive branch. The benefit includes an annual financial contribution to be made through the Banco de la Nacion Argentina.

Eligibility:
Individuals who are presidential godchildren of any age, who are studying at any level of the national education system, are eligible for the scholarship.

Documentation:
To apply for the scholarship, following documents must be submitted:
  • Completed form. The Ministry of Education's Office provides this form to candidates that satisfy current rules and regulations.

University Scholarships

The Ministry of University Policies awards two types of grants:
  • National College Scholarship Programme (PNBU) 
  • National Bicentennial Scholarships (GNP b)

National Bicentennial Scholarship Program (GNP b)

The National Bicentennial Scholarship (GNP b) Programme is for low-income pupils entering the higher education system related to following careers: natural sciences, applied science, sciences and basic sciences at the undergraduate level and university and non-university tecnicaturas.

Eligibility: 
Following students are eligible:
  •  Pupils who have completed secondary school  and wish to go for undergraduate degree or teacher in a National Public University, National University Institute, or in institutions under the National Institute of Technological Education (INET) or the National Teacher Training Institute (INFD), in the year of the Call. 
  • Pupils who are enrolled in person, in an undergraduate degree, technical degree or as a teacher in a National Public University, National Graduate Institute, or in institutions under the National Institute of Technological Education (INET) or the National Teacher Training Institute (INFD). 
  • Pupils who are in their final year of an engineering career in a National University and have to complete 3-15 subjects to graduate.

National College Scholarship Program (PNBU)

The main aim of this scholarship programme is promote equal opportunities in the area of higher education by offering grants to students.  

Eligibility
Following students are eligible:
  • Pupils who have completed secondary school and wish to go for undergraduate degree in a National Public University or the National University Institute, in the year of the Call. 
  • Pupils who are registered in person, in an undergraduate degree in a National Public University or National Graduate Institute 

Scholarships for Teacher Training

The National Institute of Teacher Education (INFD) has established an Economic incentive for teacher education pupils.

The Economic Incentives for teacher education students are part of a policy to encourage the decision of teaching, promote equal opportunities and encourage the right to access, retention and graduation of pupils in financial conditions; while supporting the formation of indigenous teachers.
